jotted notes

every startup in sf is one of three things

as I've been exploring new roles in SF, I've been focusing on smaller startups. I've been missing the feeling of a smaller company, being more connected with my co-workers, and all that vibey stuff.

unfortunately I've had to come to fact with the fact that (almost) everyone seems to be working on one of two problems.

  1. mechanical turk/scale AI v29
  2. a perfectly normal industry, with AI!!! (and all the operational struggles of the original industry)
  3. foundation lab acquisition bait

of course, then I'd do a second split as well:

  1. twitter-based (usually younger, yc, more annoying)
  2. linkedin-based (generic daily linkedin posts, usually older)

of course this system doesn't cover every startup ('every' was hyperbole) - but these six axes seem to cover most 'modern' startups. and to be honest, I'm not really sure where I want to go. every thing is clearly based on foundation labs (1 aiming for lab sales, 2 hoping for a niche labs won't do by throwing operations into the mix, 3 hoping to be bought out) - is this really the future?

we'll see where I end up (might not even move) but it does feel very much like a lab driven bubble right now.
